Join the Up Men and local photographer Dan Lyttleton for two hours of exploration into how photographs can share stories, capture histories and celebrate communities.
Dan will discuss what photography means to him, through examples from individual projects about Stoke-on-Trent, the potential of the medium, establishing photography’s relationship with ideas about belonging, sense of place, escapism, community engagement, the family album and personal protest.
The talk will introduce the photobook as a visual tool for communication, with opportunities to look at physical examples of published editions. For participants, the evening will prompt discussions about the medium whilst inspiring and promoting personal curiosity in the place you live.
Free and open to anyone who identifies as male.
